6 became 8 SOTC (move along if you don't like photos)

Well, I didn't quite make 6, but I nearly got there. In the process I realised that I'm pretty much over divers (don't give me flack for the one that's gone - it's my choices, not anyone else's) but without really meaning to I've ended up with:

    Three beautifully dressy watches
Three of the most iconic chronos of all time
No more than one of any brand
A nice mixture of old and new

Hope you like the photos as there probably won't be as many in future (if I can stick to this lot, anyway). And yes, I paid my £50 to the fundraiser for not quite staying at the number I said I would

Looks like you've got all the bases covered Tony!

I'm slowly coming around to the Daytona.

    Wonderful collection

"..pretty much over divers" - except of course for the one in the bottom right corner......

    A great set there Sir.

Must admit when looking at them I was thinking that the top 4 alone would make a superb set. I say this from my perspective as whilst I can appreciate vintage, I just can't be bothered with them anymore if being ruthless at keeping to a modest number of watches. I know how much you like them though, and that's a pretty good cross section.

It's going to be interesting to see how things pan out in a few months time.

Thanks, chaps. I'd be very happy with the top 4 alone, Alun, and those would be the the ones I kept, in fact. It's nice to have the the old boys too, though, and the PRS-68 (aside from being a lovely watch) serves as my tribute to the dive watch genre and the closest thing I have to a notional "beater".

    Great collection and pics.

So which is your current favourite and why?

Nice one Tony - glad to see you with a Daytona back in the collection!

Did I miss the incoming thread whilst I was in Vegas?

    All the best,

    Paul

Some lovely pieces there. The JLC is definitely my favourite though, I could always find a space in the watch box for that one :)

    Cheers,

    Plug

    Great collection. Iconic and varied.
The thing I immediately noticed was that none are on a bracelet - Do you wear any of them on a bracelet?

No, I don't like bracelets. Leather or nylon for me.

That's a tough question, although I have to say that the Daytona in white gold is sublime. I think it would be that or the GO right now, although next week I may change my mind.

I didn't post the incoming thread here, Paul... it was actually an impulsive trade that saw the last of my divers (aside from the 68) go in the other direction.

Seriously, though - other styles of watch are more interesting to me. I may get another vintage diver at some point but it certainly won't be for some time.

Yes, but I was referring to possibly the top three of all time (granted the Speedy isn't a Pro, but as it's an Ed White...)

The number "8" is considered very lucky in the Chinese culture. You never see "Lucky 6" Chinese restaurants you know, so I think eight is the right number for you, Tony.

    Very nice Tony.

Love the diversity and the one per brand aspect, although I'm surprised about the Daytona over the 1665.

But as you say, no justification required, it's what you like that counts.

Heck of a collection there. I think you've got all the bases covered.

I came into this mad obsession not so much being over divers as actively disliking the sight of them. Now my favourite is... a diver. Still love a really nice dressy watch though!

    5 stars ;)

You have got an incredible collection of watches. IMO, FWIW a collection that is more likely to stay with you than at any stage before.

    What, with £5k on top?

Seriously, though, both are gorgeous watches. A Daytona suits what I want right now, Simon, especially this particular one. Now don't make me feel bad about parting with the GW please :(

The Daytona is a lovely piece doubtless, but that 1665 was special. Anyhow, you are enjoying the new one, which is the main thing.

I'll give you 2 months and I reckon a Tudor or Rolex Sub will be incoming.
A nice blue Snowflake on a NATO? C'mon.. You're thinking about it already aren't you?

You're at a great point in time with your collection there tony. Something for every occasion although I personally would prefer a few more bracelets instead of straps etc.

Of course you know I LOVE the Autavia!

This truly shows that you can have a diverse collection without divers. It also shows there's more than just dive watches, dress watches and beaters!

I bet you get in a right old tizz deciding which to wear.

    Nice set mate.

Thanks very much, Steve. It is hard knowing what to put on, but I find that I now wear a watch for a few days (which really lets me enjoy it) before something else grabs my attention. It does show how diverse it's possible to be without doing anything wacky, too.

Lovely collection Tony. Surprised about the 1665, that was gorgeous. Just one problem though, they all tell the wrong time. Sort it out!
