    They're still out there!

Yesterday I picked up a very nice Omega SM 300 with box and paper. The father in law of the seller passed away. Grandma said: 'throw it away' but fortunately the gentleman did not :-) Dutch delivery with warranty including the name of the saleswoman. Also the original bracelet. The thought of all the interesting watches who must be lying in drawers sometimes makes me mad....

I got a Tudor 79090 under similar unfortunate circumstances via another member here. The owner had passed away not long after getting the watch and it sat in a safe for over 20 years untouched. The widow was going to throw it out having never heard of Tudor but luckily she didn't and got some advice before selling it. After a movement service at Genesis and it's like it's like a brand new watch

A great catch for sure, it would be a real shame if it was thrown away.

Luck? A bit. Also just being straight towards a seller and willing to step into my car and paying cash on short notice. Lot of time wasting idiots around.

I agree, there are some amazing finds out there.

I am always looking, but discoveries are usually where you least expect them.

Had a few great finds over the years too.

Really like the Omega, fantastic find, well done.

    :)

Indeed when you don't expect them. The seller had put the watch on 'reserved' because of all the annoying time wasters who contacted him. I put in a straightforward bid: cash and same day pick up.

FWaaaah! Congrats, that's a great find.
Somewhere out there, there's a NOS complete Seiko 6159 300m in a forgotten drawer waiting patiently for me to turn up to claim ownership ...

What makes me very sad indeed are all the perfectly good (and often valuable) watches that must have been thrown away over the years. Can you imagine what is rusting away in landfill...

The thought of all the interesting watches who must be lying in drawers sometimes makes me mad, too! And how insensible of her! She should have kept it at least for its sentimental value, IMHO, so good for you that she didn't!

Nice find! Congrats! Enjoy it in good health!

Just out of interest, what year and price does the receipt say, if you don't mind revealing that information?

    Great find.

Just like an old watch dealer friend of mine used to say, " it's all out there!"
    Cheers,
    Neil.
