JLC Master Compressor Extreme LAB 2

Not a huge fan of skeletonised watches & this is no exception

    Especially with the red components

    £25k too.

Normally a big fan of JLC, but I'll pass on this one ;).

It's unfortunate that JLC's supposedly cutting edge series have just ended up looking like Richard Mille knockoffs.

+1. You'd expect JLC more than most to do better than that.

Agree Andy. It falls into that 'no idea what the time is but boy, see that tourbillon do its thing' sort of watch, but tragically its not even that interesting.

Another self-conscious expression of technical excellence that leaves me completely indifferent.

    Be nice when its finished.

How can such a noble brand be so vulgar?

Aside from the styling (which I don't like either) I have a problem with JLC and supposed ruggedness. I have owned a couple of JLC's 'tougher' watches: Navy Seals Automatic and Amvox 2 Chronograph and they had an inherent fragile feel. The Amvox especially.

Some companies: JLC, Breguet etc. should concentrate their work on dressier, more intricate watches. That is where their history and expertise lie.

I don't like it at all, put a different brand name on it and I wouldn't be surprised to find it falling out a cracker.

This is interesting to me. I've just bought (and not yet got my hands on) a JLC Compressor Diving GMT, the 44mm version. I'd be interested to hear you expand a little on why you thought they felt fragile. Is it the feel of the bezel? The lightness of the titanium? If it helps, I've a newish Seadweller you can use as a benchmark!

Ian Fleming once wrote that the difference between beauty and homeliness can be a few mm.

This is, I think, a good illustration of that. It just doesn't quite work.

I am swimming against the tide. I like it. Each to their own.

Not for me I'm afraid, However that looks like a fantastic demonstration of manufacturing and I'll bet there's some pretty interesting materials and production techniques involved.

ps that website has some pretty interesting stuff on it, and they certainly make some stunning watches

Ugly as sin, seriously who would want to wear that?
