    Postage is reasonable though!

Thanks, a good illustration of my point. I bought mine in 2005 for $1700 and struggled to find a buyer at the same price in 2010. Several people emailed me to say I was too high at $1700, but they'd gladly take it off my hands for $1500 (lowballers, gotta love 'em). Right after I sold mine, the price jumped to the mid $2000s, and now you see a lot priced higher. "Reasonably priced", in my book, would be $2300 with the correct tire tread strap, box, papers and in very good to excellent condition. Of those four:

    1) http://www.chrono24.com/en/chopard/m...-id3241132.htm Priced too high

    2) http://www.chrono24.com/en/chopard/t...-id2973885.htm Still too high, but not as bad... however missing one strap keeper

    3) http://www.chrono24.com/en/chopard/m...-id2807578.htm Getting close, but also missing one strap keeper

    4) http://www.chrono24.com/en/chopard/m...-id2986885.htm Wrong strap - not original

So, none of these would be acceptable at the listed prices, but regardless, I'm skint and it's all academic anyway until I get the house paid off.
I'm similar with my Seamaster ... A small amount from my grandmothers estate enabled me to get mine around 2003..got through grey market through contacts in trade so paid well under RRP but brand new box, papers etc. kept in mint condition I think it had one tiny ding in bezel which at least meant I wore it more often after but still a weekend choice ...

Fast forward to 2010 and relocating here to Devon, mortgage still to pay as house not sold on date we wanted, storage and removal costs etc meant wife's 70's SS date just and my Seamaster on fleabay....

Asking prices were around £1300 but no one got those for them....lucky to get £1k....

Both unsold so pleased really but then had 2 late buyers turn up for each... Rolex went for £600 cash but omega for £850 but he insisted on paying still thru fleabay even though came round F2F after auction ended no sale so I still had fees on top.....

Then said he'd have my minter as a beater... I could have

Shortly after they jumped back up to the £1500 mark for a good one ..double what I paid....

Now they might seem plentiful and low budget to some, but I've relocated, am on a plastic fantastic repayment mission and started a small business so ready disposable isn't around, I have assets but if you sell them are not assets anymore....

So yours is more unusual but the sentiment the same....the Grail for me Is Seadweller but really Next stop is a mint blue Seamaster and also replace wife's oyster hopefully with a birth year as she has big birthday next year... As I kick myself every day for telling the guy to do one really.... We sold house 2 weeks later when it looked like not going through when sold watches so we could have probably managed...

Lovely watch CD, though if we're talking Zeniths I would love one of these.

I would love one of these as well but I was foolishly being realistic with myself.

    Over to you!
that's one hell of a nice watch, however at 13 grand used, i'll pass

I currently have these on my radar. Don't think any of them are likely in the near future, however.

I recently posted a thread about my lust for a Zenith El Primero 1969 so I guess that is my candidate.

Maybe, but so was the kid who said the emperor had no clothes on!

I just wondered if I was the only one who didn't appreciate the virtues of this watch?

A milsub is never gonna happen so I'll settle for a double red or even single red.....

Though I still have this fantasy of finding an original Panerai from the 40s at a car boot sale for a song..... "Needs a new battery" the old girl will say from the boot of her morris marina....

Fairly predictable I'm afraid - the new gold yachtmaster is at the top of the list.

No, I haven't, so maybe that's the factor that's missing (ETA, I went looking for a video... The back's quite nice! )

You're right though, it's the differences that makes the world interesting

Well, I still think I urgently 'need' the following:

Something from the Lange & Sohne family - can't decided which
    A Rolex 1665 or at a push a 16660 with matte dial
    A vintage Blancpain fifty fathoms
Another Panerai - also can't decide which - maybe a 1950s case variant

can't afford any of those currently. But its good to dream :)

"No problem love, here you go" says you
    "I can't change a £20" says she
"Keep it" says you and legs it.

It's funny how wives have different definitions of wants and needs .... I do need a Seadweller but according to my other half it's only a "want". ... Men are from Mars ..women from Venus ... I'll never understand female logic...

I've lusted over the bumblebee, so much so i got a joke bumblebee transformers watch xmas a couple of years back.
I did the man-maths, and came with a hair of pulling out my wallet on the third time trying it on.

Lovely watch, so light and wearable, but for me it seemed a cop out, as my grail is still the EOD, and its not an EOD.
Also i had minor concerns about the carbon case's resilience in the long term

Milsub would get my vote too
