When does the "I love wearing this new Watch" feeling wear off?

Hi guys, back in September my Wife surprised me with a Seiko BFK for an Anniversary gift. My initial thoughts were that it will be ideal to wear on the weekend or days off, however once I had it on I don't want to take it off!

It's the first time I have kept the same watch for work and out of work, the work watch has been a plastic Timex for fear of getting damaged which has happened in the past, the Seiko however feels like it will go on for ever.

So how long do reckon the infatuation will last?

Just buy a few more watches and swap them around, so that the feeling comes back afresh

Hi, I've had my BFK 369 for 5 years and its a great daily wearer. For a big watch the curved lugs make it very comfortable. I think it's a great watch and very often underestimated. Enjoy yours. Kev

Cheers, I'm very impressed with it. A good all rounder.

It doesn't if you keep buying different watches!,seriously tho if you have a few nice uns just keep rotating them to keep that same feeling every time you wear them.

+1..........that's why I always advocate playing the long game and building a collection over several years. Getting a watch out that you haven`t worn for a few months is almost like getting a new 'un. Some of my favourites have been with me for almost 20 years!

It depends, on how careful / careless I am
The nice new feeling wears off after the first scratch, after that, it's just a newer watch than the rest
I'm on my potential third one this year, first a PO Ti, then EXP-39, now looking at Panerai

Depends on the person, the watch and the times. No set rule IMO

I'm sure the time will come when I change over, just need to wait and see what I feel like.

I can see me digging out something I haven't had on for a while but at this moment I'm in no rush.

I'm not quite up there with those nice watches but hopefully my collection will end up nicely balanced.

That's what I figured, this is the first watch that has had me thinking about it differently.

I would say that quite a long time. If I had a bigger collection even longer.

I find it doesn't last more than 2 weeks.

That's either because I got lots of nice watches already, or because I haven't found 'the one'

    I hope it's the latter.

I bought a BFK a while back, loved it but is just such a heavy strap, however got the official Seiko rubber strap that goes with it and is a completely different watch. Extremely comfortable with super lume and looks great

    Disagree, this was my grail.

I still consider it the most beautiful watch EVER made, but that's just IMVHO.

The 'new' feeling did wear off and I sold it after five years from new.

I had a slightly different experience with my orange PO 2500. I never had that real new watch excitement initially and for the first couple of years it was just a two day a week watch........roll forward to four years of ownership and I get that new watch feeling everyday . It was a real 'grower' on me that I appreciate more and more and makes me stare at it more than any sane, sensible person should

Cheers guys, some good insight. I suppose the test will be when I get my next watch to see if it gives the same feelings.

I never knew you could get a rubber strap, I'm just off to have a look to see what I think, as you say it will give a different look.

    Cheers.

This. I have 8 at the moment, different styles and sizes, so every few weeks when I change in rotation it's like having a new watch again.
