"good timekeeper" - that's reassuring.

Nice little buys those.
Hi all
I called in a couple of Antique shops this week and ended up buying some watches (And some Binoculars!!)..
First up is a Fortis that seems to be NOS, Love the watch though i've no idea what movement is inside..
Next up was a Seiko 5 that needs a replacement crystal, Otherwise it's fine!
It was on a bracelet that was too small so I put it on a DiModel that I had, Quite comfy! I also bought an old sub Sec's watch with blued hands that I quite like though I think it will need a service soon!
Also bought some Tecnar by Swift 8x40 bins that are very crisp, clean and clear!!
John..

Is that Fortis branding completely off centre?
It's just a matter of time...
Some nice finds there. That little 30s/40s sub secs watch looks like it could be a Cyma. They used those hands during that period. Here are two of a similar age (albeit signed on the dial):

The only way to be certain is to open it up.
Love the old sub dial watch & i deffernatly love the Cyma's .
That design for the redial is very very common for watches coming out of India. iirc, the logo will match the insides of the watch, and the rest of dial design never changes, except in colour.
is the back of the 60's fortis laser etched?
fortis looks wrong to me apart from the lack of 'precision' as pointed out already the font on the etched back looks like it was done yesterday very modern looking. Someone got stung on another forum with a fortis. Also the points on the crown on the dial don't look right.
Would be interesting if you could get a shot of the Fortis' movement. I suspect that it could be a HMT but surely the fact that the seller stated that it had been serviced would be odd if if wasn't a genuine Fortis movement.

It's not a real '60's Fortis John.
Cheers,
Neil.
I'm aftraid the "Fortis" just shouts "HMT" at me
Ha ha!!
The 'Just serviced' and 'Good time keeper' was utter tosh!!
It was gaining 15 minutes a day so I got reimbursed!!
I can't believe how unobservant I am!! I never noticed the Fortis was off centre Also, I have four or five of those HMT watches, I didn't even notice the similarity!!
Cheers, John
Glad the OP got his brass back.
There's danger that folks sometimes see what they want to see in a fit of over-enthusiasm.
