Dornbluth 99.1 with engravings of my son's DOB arrived yesterday. Lovely lovely thing, much nicer than pics show. Surprisingly large though which suits me fine but won't be for everybody.

The hands and numerals seem to match - all heat blued?

Lovely watch Ryan and hopefully well worth the wait - a special watch indeed with sentimental value.

    No flipping now...

I purposefully had it engraved to prevent that from happening:)

Replacement tritium 16600 for the one I stupidly sold. Still got its bevels.
Definitely a keeper as I hate not having one.

Just got this. The eagle eyed will spot several faults. The insert is all faded, the plots and hands have gone a yellowy colour and the crystal must be warped or something because it's distorted all the words on the dial. Still, when I get all that sorted, I think it will make a decent watch...

Stunning Great White. As you say, once you get shut of that horrible superdome crystal and fat font insert and replace them with new service replacements the watch will look a million dollars. Remember to get the bits back as there appears to be a queue for these bits on WTB.

Whoever let that one go, must be entirely mad. Remember, you are only looking after it for me!

It is a little too small, a little too blingy and a little bit difficult to read, but dammit I have to admit it's a fine fine sports watch. And my first Rolex! Thanks to Mike Wood for a smooth deal despite royal mails attempts to scupper it!

How about I offer you a swap for a brand new one? Saves you all the hassle and you'll be walking round with a lovely pristine watch rather than tired and battered old thing. Doing you a favour surely? ;)

And do you know what...to anyone in the 'real world' that would be a deal you'd be daft to pass up. Mrs JDH1 wasn't impressed at all...and she didn't even ask the price!

I'm not sure you can so much better for what the Everest costs (and more TBH). Should have purchased one ages ago but I have one now.

    Some crackers in here.

My new daily arrived to replace the G-Shock, was looking at Sinn U1/U2 but some pics on this site tempted me with the DA46 instead. Not sure if the rubber strap is staying, ordered it a while back but the yellow stitched leather that came with the Dam is pretty nice:

Nowhere near the class of a particularly good Friday crop so far IMHO, but I do enjoy this one. Wabi deliberately highlighted, on one of Eddie's NATO straps.

Had this come in on Monday after a fairly long pre-order from last November. Not everyone's cup of tea, but certainly right up my street being a nice chunky tool diver.

I've heard that Tipex does a great job of freshening up faded lume, you can do it yourself when you replace that crystal and save a fortune on servicing ;-)

Is the Speedmaster packaging some sort of special edition or standard issue? Looks great!

It's a standard Speedy Pro and the packaging is currently standard but they did put the price up from £2880 to £3340.....so you are paying for it.

Just back from Singapore where I happened to come across a Baby Tuna... seen photos of them plenty times but never seen one in the metal before and really wasn't on my radar.
Thought I may as well try it on and before I knew it my cash was somehow on their counter.

I don't know much about it really, it was a recent purchase from this forum. From what I can tell online it dates from the late 60s / early 70s and is a hand winding Tudor cal. 2422, 35mm case. It seems to be in good nick, having just been serviced by Rick Askham - timekeeping and power reserve are excellent.

I love how slim it is, and the dial has a real warmth to it - I'll try to take some better photos soon. It's keeping my Speedmaster and SMP 2254 off my wrist!

I bought it head only but the seller, Mr. TPG, very kindly threw in a strap - it's actually from an Accurist! It is not a bad strap, but I think it deserves something a little more luxurious so I will get a nice deep brown strap when I get chance - perhaps a Hirsch lizard strap.

My new to me Tag Heuer 2000 courtesy of Kieron (Vortgen) has gone straight onto one of Eddies RAF Nato straps, in the flesh, the Blue, Red and Green match up pretty well with the Tag logo/Blue Dial. May well get a plain Blue Perlon at some point!
This will be my new Work/Walking beater, leaving the Seamaster 120m for dress/socialising uses....

A box was waiting for me when I got home tonight, containing two new ones from a trade deal...

First up is a 1983 Heuer 980.032 Night Diver. This is the second one I've owned, but is the earlier version than my previous one, and has a much chunkier case. It is also in superb condition, with a spotless full lume dial and its original jubilee bracelet. I think these watches are so cool, but it might be just me.

Second up is the make-weight in the deal, a 1973 Seiko Speedtimer. I know nothing about these other than this one is in excellent condition and, again, on its original bracelet. Nice dial...

All all in all, a great start to the weekend.

  47. #1497
Both cool. Those Speed Timers have something of a following here, not easy to source good ones.

That's lovely, all of the elements just come together nicely in my eyes.

If it feels too big maybe try something different from a NATO? Looks great to me though.
