    1920's Rolex Oyster?....

My dad passed this along to me today. I'd not seen it before and i have no idea of the model. I hope some of you knowledgeable folk might be able to give me a little more information. I think its pretty old, my dad inherited it from an aunt who was married to the chap engraved on the back. It was given to him by the Reform club as inscribed but i'v no idea of dates.

I wound it up for the first time in perhaps 30 years today, seems to be keeping time..

    here are some terrible photos:

My dad said he had the lugs replaced as the old ones wore through, the hands might have been done too.

It's a lovely old thing but not really my (or his) cup of tea but any info will be gratefully received!

Seeing the text with the ad, I do not know how realistic the price is but I am not sure the seller has all his wits about him.

Hahaha! It's not just the anger at the start, the SUSTAINED SHOUTING throughout but it's the genuinely bizarre use of turning words into acronyms for perceived E.M.P.H.A.S.I.S.

Hope it turns out to be one of those OP, if so it appears to be one of the absolute first run of oyster Rolexes from the late 1920s.

Thanks Croftrock, if nothing else its good to get a little model info from the aussie ad.

any ideas of a good place of sell a piece like this? It's not exactly the typical piece for SC.

I'm afraid I've no idea, I think there is a forum specifically for vintage rolexes though, so that might help. Or someone else here might know.

Nice story. I wish some of my relatives had decent watches in their drawers!
