Christopher Ward C1 Grand Malvern Moonphase

Has anyone got it? I would love to see the real pictures. I looking to own a moon phase watch and the price of this one is acceptable. How is your thought on this?

Not sure if I love or hate the fact the moonphase dial is so HUGE. I get why it is just not sure it's not TOO big?

Spend a while gazing at pictures of the Arnold and the Christopher Ward looks just nicely midsized ;)

    Really?

(I suspect that's a photoshop or fake, btw)

I quite like it, but not enough to buy one.

I’ve always liked these. Nice interesting dress watch for a good price. If you are thinking about picking one up, use 100CW17 at check out for £100 off

Yes it is it a real moonphase complication, the replacement for their C9 model, I believe .

If I had the cash I would have one of these. Its one of the best moon phases I have seen. The moon phase section is bigger than the usual tiny window but not massive like the Arnold. I think its also nice to have a dark blue dial to a moon phase. White, silver or cream doesn't do it for me.

I love it. The stealthy date window is a great touch too. If it had a bracelet I’d probably order one right now. I love moonphases.

By bracelet, do you consider mesh type to be one, or not?

I have one of the older models - think I prefer the newer version with the Arabic numerals over mine. Aesthetically, I have grown to dislike Roman numerals in the last few years.

Yes. They are claiming it is more accurate than other moon phases. Quote from website:

"Our latest JJ Calibre, JJ04 - better known as our moonphase complication - epitomises the horological spirit of the collection. Using the ETA 2836-2 as a base, the date wheel, along with its spring-loading assembly, have been stripped out and replaced by four further wheels to drive the moon disc, with two more required for the setting mechanism.

This links the passage of the moon wheel across its window to the movement's mechanism, resulting in a smooth perpetual motion rather than the one-day progression usually found in moonphase watches. This work also increases the accuracy of the moonphase to one day in every 128 years".

I like the watch, but the font they’ve used for their name on the dial looks wrong to me.

Not really. Meshes are great on diver’s watches, but I was hoping they’d do a full bracelet like on the C1 Moon Phase. I like proper curved end pieces personally.

This is my bugbear too. The current logo and font used just looks cheap. I like the watch, I like the overall design and making a big feature of the moonphase puts the complication front and centre. The moon disc itself looks high-end. It's just a pity it's let down by that logo.

Agreed. The new logo is a real downgrade on an otherwise really rather pretty watch - it's the first moon phase I've seen (same with the Arnold) that actually appeals. Might be the silver moon and lack of gaudy colours that are so often found on more traditional variants?

Has anyone got the new model in blue and can put up some descent photos?
