Typical media trying to sensationalise.
It's fairly clear the bloke was just trying to take a shortcut via the underpass.

Driver unhurt but will be 'offered' a fitness to drive course?!

An "offer" he will find hard to refuse, I suspect...
That will T-cut out
Incredible
Drove past this last night, it’s a mile or so from my house, what’s hard to see is how he did it, the other side of the wall is a car park so he must of only had a 50m run up. How much speed and force can you get in 50m? Obviously enough to go straight through a brick wall!
The car park is a little higher than the path the other side of the wall, but to hit a wall and carry on straight through it like that?
Wonder if he’ll lose his no claims bonus? At 73 that must have built up.
Why oh why do the BBC, on stories like this, include links / reference to comments made by people on Twitter. Why would I give a single shit, what @randyguy33 on Twitter, has to say about something like this?! Is this just symbolic of the overall decline in the quality of journalism these days?
I have a friend who used to work as a photographer for the local paper, she got made redundant last year so is now freelance. I called her as soon as I saw it but she said there’d be so many people taking iPhone photos that she wouldn’t even cover the cost of parking.
Targa 4S... hairdresser car... no doubt PDK...
It deserved to die!
Subway crashes quite common in Essex! Two in Chelmsford: -
Probably not as much speed as you’d imagine.
I went to an emergency gas call out with a mate of mine as the resident had knocked the gas tank with their car. Turned out the lady had backed her car right through the back garage wall, there was a 4ft drop from the garage floor level to the garden behind and the garage wall had been knocked down and the car was partially through. The large gas tank was knocked off its mountings fracturing the feed to the house!
That was from complete stand still with only a foot or so behind the car!
Apparently she’d selected reverse instead of first.
You wouldn’t think it was possible the damage she’d done from such a short distance so I could see how even 10mph and a quick squirt a car like that would easily plough through a wall
I was at that junction yesterday...
...and I'm currently sat 100mtrs away from the subway in the bottom 'photo.
Thankfully the old chap is OK and no-one else was injured, and you've got to love the comic genius comments on Twitter.
"That will polish out"
Please excuse me whilst I stitch my sides back together.
I dont understand why they always put the value(or new value) of the car in these type of reports, if it was a two grand fiesta wouldvit still be newsworthy?
