I would go for a Sinn 556. It does have a date window but is very subtle. I wear mine on a leather strap but also have the bracelet. Reasonably priced too and a great technical spec.

I’m looking for a simple three hander under a grand to wear with jeans and a t shirt/casual shirt.
Must have no date (or date at 12/6 at a push), fixed bezel, strap or bracelet, and not slab sided. Hand wound or automatic, 40mm or under diameter, 20mm lug width and ideally less than 48mm lug to lug.
What would the collective recommend?

Rolex Oyster 116000 36mm, blue Arabic dial.
Thanks. I’ve had a 556a and didn’t bond despite me believing it would hit all the right notes. I’m reluctant to try the 556i but can’t bring myself to hit ‘delete’ at the moment. That’s one of the reasons I’ve asked for help!

Is the right answer at the wrong budget, Paul!!!!

If it helps, the Hanhart Pioneer Preventor9 is one under consideration but they’re few and far between.

Now on the list! Lovely looking watches, off to learn about the Miyota movement. Thanks!

You’re quite right. I’ll edit my op.

Thanks. Farer are a brand I’ve been following for a while. They just seem a bit, well, over-priced to be blunt.

CWC diver's automatic? No date, 40mm, >48 mm lug to lug, sub £1K. 20mm strap. Not fixed bezel though.

Maybe a Pinion Atom (no date version) ?
Maybe a nice solid silver English made J & T Windmills if you want something different. Casual looking but still smart enough for other occasions. Does have a date though!

How about the new-release Hamilton Khaki Field Mechanical?

They must be pretty popular as there’s a small waiting time for these at the moment, hopefully I’ll be getting mine within the month...

One of Damasko's DA36 range would fit the bill except for the day/date at 3, how about Stowa's Flieger instead? Suits plenty of strap styles and colours as well.
Might be slightly above budget but they are smashing watches

You could save about £900 and go for a Seiko!
Yes, a left-field option but I have one in my collection and best value, go-anywhere watch IMHO.
I went for the SNZG15K1, but of course there any many out there to chose form and very strap friendly. Go perfectly well with Jeans and T-Shirt.
Sadly, Seiko insist on adding at least a date on almost every piece they release.

These two for me
There you are, solution found. Have just ordered the 556 I B from Neil. Thank you all for your suggestions, I’ve found a couple of new watchmakers to keep tabs on.
