    Stuff to do in lanzarote

So going with my family in October school holidays, we have a car, looking for things to do with small children 7 and 4, anyone got good ideas?

    Where are you staying ?
Timanfaya NP is a good day out along with El Golfo .
There used to be a submarine excursion in Puerto del Carmen . A camel safari will always raise a smile.
Ferry to Fuerteventura perhaps ? Just keep an eye on the crossing of the weather is bad .

    A couple suggestions:

A zoo called Texas Rancho which also has a couple of small water slides.

You could also visit one of the water parks, good days out.

Then go to Timanfaya National Park to have a BBQ over the volcanic lava.

Head down to Matagorda and then head to the airport, park next to the old White House and go and watch the planes come and go. Your kids will love hearing the big jets roaring off the runway.

I will be there again later this year, I love a break in Lanzarote.

    Snorkelling or try dive?

Probably the former with young kids.

I found Timanfaya really disappointing, myself, but the caves (actually lava tubes) in the east (I think) of the island were great.

Good shout on watching the planes, the kids will enjoy. I would get a flight app as well and you can go at peak times.

Timanfaya National Park, aside from the tour through the amazing landscape most kids would I think enjoy the three demonstrations plus watching the food being cooked over the heat of the volcano, eating it too maybe ?

Papagayo beaches are pretty amazing too, I would recommend getting over there by segway using MovingSegwayLanazarote, the owner is a great guy.

Timanfaya has s definitely worth a visit and you can’t not have the chicken cooked on a volcano!!

We did a vineyard tour, I can’t remember which one but it was really fascinating how they grow the vines in hollowed out lava beds and use to condensation in the morning to water them.

Timanfaya for sure if not just for the shear terror of the bus drive :)

Airport photography is fun too especially as you can cycle all the way from there down to Costa Tequise and stop for lunch on the way.

Defo head to one of the markets in Costa Blanca and go to the Rubicon Marina for lunch one day. Also Peurto Calero is lovely.

Hire a car and head north up to Haria and Orzola and on the way back go to Jameos Del Aqua to see the blind white crabs and lizards. Go to Arrieta too.

Cesar Manriques house is like walking onto a set of Dr. No and is a fascinating place. YOU MUST GO HERE.

I always go and see UD Lanza on a Saturday which is a pretty good standard of football.

I’ve been going here a couple of times a year since my mates Dad moved there 15 years ago. It used to have a stigma attached but I (and everyone we’ve taken there) love it. We go every Christmas and love it.

€1.50 a pint in most bars too, but take a hoodie as it gets cold at night.

Some nice seaside restaurants on the west coast between playa Blanca and club la Santa gin and tonic at the blue note in the marina area of playa Blanca- best I’ve ever had! And some nice shops nearby.

Aren't there a numer of Manriques houses?

Pretty sure when we did a tour of the island we went to at least two (LagOmar and the house in Arrecife).

I'm not sure how much interest, though, they'd hold for a 4 and 7 year old...

It's the one in Tahíche that's the better. The other one is his house.

Apologies, I did the usual and didn't read the whole post re kids.

Tell the kids that you're taking them to Tracy Island, last time we went I half expected Virgil and Brains to walk around the corner.

An unnecessary +1 for Timanfaya, it really is spectacular.

The Jameos del Agua and Cueva de los Verdes are a must.

A boat trip to La Graciosa could be a great way to spend a day.
