Needed something without a bracelet for use working from home. Nephew is starting to show an interest in watches so we settled on a fun relatively inexpensive auto. He liked the green colour so that’s what we got.

He doesn’t know that I’ll be passing it to him when I finally settle on something with a strap.

Sweet - love these. I don't think I could live with the dial being offset though! Maybe it's the camera angle.

Nice watch, but it would look much better with a set of matching tritium hands or send the watch to James Hyman and get him to remove the Luminova and replace with something colour matched to the dial.

Thank you all - yes the hands were replaced by Rolex UK during one of those overhauls. Not too bothered by it just yet but will certainly give James a shout when I want to replace them with matching tritium ones (thanks Wallasey Runner!). This is my first 4 digit Rolex so I can't help but wear it for a bit first before sending it away again:)

Try it on a leather strap or NATO, the pro becomes a lot less bulky in hte lug area. It’s the end links that increase the bulkyness of the watch in my opinion.

Pics do funny things !! FOIS both have the same lug to lug so maybe a nato (yuck) or leather strap could be the answer as already mentioned.

I agree I think the FOIS is the sweet spot for me ordered a few goodies for her. The strange thing is I have other speedy watches DSOTM variants and have not had any issues wearing these. I had the same issue with my globemaster and every other time I have a speedy I do this and it just sits in the safe.

Very nice, I’ll be interested to hear how you find it after some time. Would you say there is much of a difference compared to a 16600?

I only kept the 16600 a couple of months as I knew it was too small so I've never had both at the same time to compare. The 16600 was bought and sold three years ago so my memory isn't fresh.

From speaking with Hood in one of the threads a few months ago he seems to think they wear incredibly similar but the ceramic bezel beefs it up a bit.

Sloppy pic but this is next to the Sub 40 (left) and Sub 41 (right). Looks tiny compared but wears taller on the wrist. Sub 41 is about as close to perfect as I've found.

I think it looks good on you Wiley.
I just want to know how you get all these watches past the Mrs.
Though a bit like mine they all look similar so they tend not to notice.
I hope you give it enough wrist time to get used to the size.

I only keep one nice watch in the house at a time and they all look the same which usually keeps her off the scent. I did break that rule Christmas and she saw the SOTC - wasn't thrilled. I think she'd be happy for me to be in debt over watches if it meant I couldn't afford a motorbike again.

Stickers are off and it's on the wrist. Not going anywhere as I made that mistake with the 16600. It fits well with all the links on and divers ext removed but I've ordered two more via an AD so I can get rid of the half link and have one spare. Wouldn't mind some of the Sub 41 AR on the sapphire though.

Ha , funny that. My Mrs would be mystified and think I was terminally ill if I said I was going to sell my motorbikes! Then she would go mad when I said I was going to buy more wrist jewellery with the proceeds!!

    Thanks!

I've taken it off the rather disappointing strap and put it on this beads of rice bracelet instead, for more PP vibes :)

Third or so attempt at the Speedy, never really impressed me at the ADs. It shows that sometimes you really need to take the plunge and go for it. I’m glad I did. What a watch!

That is absolutely beautiful (as is your titanium FF, by the way - a personal grail) but, how dare you tease us Tier 4-ites with a restaurant menu! I object in the strongest terms......

Totally agree with the comments. Actually it's only the modern bracelet end link which increases the lug to lug size and compromises the otherwise great comfort of the Speedmaster. I have two bracelets and both have shorter end links than the current design.
Check out how much shorter the end link is here compare to yours.

If you like bracelets go for an earlier model, or maybe the newly released one?
    (In case it fits.)

    Thanks Wes,

The Bronze patina has already started to kick in, but I understand leaving in white vinegar for a short while and using a soft toothbrush will return it to the original condition. I might do that then at least the patina from that point on will be mine and not someone else's.
