I sometimes look at those U50's and think its not one for me and then I see a picture like that and start considering how I can afford one. Looks great.
Is that a Barton strap?
Wow! I do like this, looks great in the sunshine

Got one of these to see what the hype is. Can't argue with the price £89

Absolutely thrilled with this new arrival. I have been undecided on this HAQ GS since it was released last year mainly over the ceramic bezel and 40mm case but finally took the plunge. It is a beautiful watch, the aggressive case and usual GS dial finishing look great with the blue dial and bezel which match nicely and come alive in bright light. The size is good with the lug design adding some visual heft. It is also good to have a watch that I can use as a reference and never have to wind, GS quote +/10 sec/yr so I won't need to adjust the time at all in the 3-year life of the battery! The only downside is that after shrinking my collection down to six watches, I have crept back up to ten.

Ludicrously large - check
Full of unnecessary features - check
Man toy - check
Perfect!
it was only a little cheaper than the BB steel I had but I’m a lot more comfortable wearing it.
The BB was a little too polished for me, the blasted finish on this is far more my style.
Like many others I ultimately found the BB a little slab sided and too thick. Not an issue with the U50
Great to have a Tudor back in the collection.

I finally picked up a blue Pelagos over the weekend.
When I picked up my Heritage Chrono around six years, I was split between that and the Pelagos, the THC came out on top at that particular time.
But I’d always admired the Pelagos, especially the blue, as it is a striking blue.
I found an AD (The Hour Glass) in Saigon that I’d not been aware of previously so went to have a look around. They had pretty much every model in store, apart from the new white Panda chrono and the P01. I already have a P01, and I don’t think I’d be able to tell the time on the panda, so wasn’t fussed and I really had the Pelagos on my mind anyway.
It was just as nice as I’d remembered, and probably more so now due to its legibility.
So all in all a cracking watch and my first real purchase in almost two years. It’s super legible, very light, 70 odd hours power reserve, brilliant lume, and the bracelet is fantastic with its micro adjustable and also spring expansion mechanism.
Very happy with it.

These are a great watch I love my first version.
One of the most comfortable watches I own it’s easy to forget you have it on.
I think I found that boutique a few years ago whilst there
Is it near the mini Notre-Dame? I popped in the Blancpain boutique whilst there as well
It came as a bit of a shock to see such displays of western capitalist consumerism there and Hanoi

Due to current situation I haven't been able to get back to UK. This bloody nuisance hasn't stopped me buying watches, but has stopped me seeing them. Waiting for me in England...currently....Nomos 701, Sinn A rs 556, Stowa Flieger 36, Mappin & Webb, Campaign, Junghans Max Bill Anthacite and Max Bill white dial and TF Navigator. When I finally get back to UK, I will open a bottle of Ubi Maior, red wine from Italy, sit in the garden, and try on each in turn. Sorry, I have no pics at present time. What a day it will be!
I could not be you. Buy a watch, wait in anticipation for its arrival, open package excitedly, try on, parade around with new acquisition, look at lovingly, check quality under loupe, put in watch box, then repeat.
Not sure I could bear the anticipation of four or five watches sitting at home inaccessible for an indeterminate time. It will be a feast when you get home though, enjoy.
New arrival this morning, Speedmaster 125...
Not the first time I've owned one of these and one I have wanted to replace for quite a while. A couple of 'firsts' for this watch on release, it was Omega's first LE with 2000 released (although probably many more released in reality after the initial run sold out!) and more importantly, the Omega cal 1041 (certified Lemania 1340 of the famous 5100 family) was the world first chronometer certified automatic chronograph. On release of the 125 in 1973, the US pricing of the caliber 861 Speedmaster Pro was $225. A Speedmaster 125 would have set you back $425, that is nearly a 90% premium!
Considering all of that, it always surprises me that these can be picked up quite reasonably, certainly in comparison to other vintage Speedies, and offer superb value for money, possibly with price rise coming as they approach the 2023 50yr milestone (that will Omega 175yr anniversary), who knows, mat be ripe for a reissue based on Omega's current trends?!
Due to the hunk of steel case and age there are quite a few nasty over-polished and dinked to hell, so keep an eye out for a good one if you are looking.
I missed a good one on SC a while back, after bugging the lucky owner to sell it to me for a couple of years, I spotted this beauty one at the right time for funds, in the UK, private sale on Chrono24 - a service I've never used before but was very swift and easy! Ironically I was offered the original SC one les that 24hrs after placing the order!
Very happy though, as this one comes with the added bonus of original warranty papers and instructions, a recent service by Simon Freese and a rare(r) 'TELEMTRE' bezel / crystal!
Absolutely loving it!

What a great pic up Rob.
Funnily enough I was looking at this very watch last week in my quest to obtain one myself.
Like yourself I had one previously, which was a minter and stupidly let it go.
Cheers,
Ben

It's a cracker Ben! Even more funnily enough, it was a decision between the 125 and your Tudor GMT I had to make! Sorry to say mate that I think I made the right choice.
We are reasonably local to each other I guess - both being Somerset, maybe a meet up in the future would be interesting!
My first Rolex, and a classic at that. I'm in love!

New arrival and first impressions are seriously good: a JLC Master Quartz from redwolf.
I’m loving the size, the heft, the dial and the distinctive movement of the second hand, very precise and less “jerky” than other 1970s quartz watches I’ve had. Oh, and the bracelet is a work of art. Lovely!
Made an appearance here a couple of weeks ago, but just arrived back from a hand swap and feels like a new watch

Congratulations - if you can get access to one, I seriously suggest you try to get it on a lapping machine.

As you say, it's a complete package but it's the bracelet that makes it. I take it that you have enough links?
Thank you! The bracelet fits nicely, as it happens - always a risk when it's "whole links or nothing"! I really like the way the angle of the case "flows" down the bracelet, becoming more and more vertical till it reaches the removable links. Best integration I've seen, I think. I found Cilla's post on the GP 350-series movements really informative too, little things like the teflon bearings etc have an appeal to me that goes beyond the aesthetic.
As for lapping, it seems to me to be reasonably sharp and good looking for a 1973 piece. It's certainly in better cosmetic shape than I am, and I'm younger... I like a bit of patina, so this strikes me as quite a nice balance of "sharp" and "worn in". If and when it needs some work, I might look to get it lapped, but right now I reckon I shall wear and enjoy.
Thank you! And despite for years reading tales of woe on here and elsewhere about the conduct of ADs, credit must go to Hamilton & Inches. I know this is not a 'hot' piece (especially in 36mm although I was offered and tried on 41mm too), but originated with email enquiry, got the watch in, were lovely to deal with, no snootiness, paid, watch sized and fitted, with a cup of tea and a chat, and off. A really great experience, treated well and I hope any future Rolex or other purchases go the same! A very happy chappy :)
