Titanium Rolex anyone?
AKA 'Deepsea Challenge' - looks like Omega's PO Ultra Deep rattled some cages...
Exciting new look (!) -

£21,850 — wow

Almost double the price of a PO UD!
Does it win an award for "how many words can you put on the front of a watch"?
Looks awful
Does this mean that the one-off they did for Ben Ainslie might not be just a one-off in the near future?
Needs more big white writing on the dial. A few black areas there going to waste.
Its also a fat little fekcur to boot
I hope those chamfers make an official come back to the 13xxxx series of subs and seadwellers. That would be a neat throwback to the past.

What’s one up from a beast, a monster maybe. I tried the Cameron on in Goldsmiths and god that was big, this really is a monster.
I hope the Rolex fanboys have stated their interest
I LOVE IT.
Couldn't pull it off but what a thing it is!
Ghastly.
And i'm a Rolex fanboy.
Can’t see it ever happening or going down too well as the overall heft and size of the Deepsea made it a watch where the weight matched it’s size and in my opinion made it a proper indestructible tool watch and at twice the price I would deem it pretty pointless. If you want an oversized decent priced titanium dive watch then there are plenty of ones to choose from including the Tudor Pelagos and various Grand Seiko offerings. OK, they don’t have the Rolex emblem but are nevertheless pretty damned good.
Well, I said "hats off" to Omega when I tried on the ultra deep at a recent event.
Im going to say the same to rolex for this offering. Its not about looks obviously - but about achievement - and a bit of willy waving - but the concept of taking a watch as deep as possible is nothing new and both brands have been at it for years.
If it was below £15k and actually available to buy without all the AD nonsense, I could have been interested. I'm happy with my original Deepsea purchased in 2010 and will leave it at that.........
I like it for the technical achievement. That’s about it. At least it’s grade 5 titanium
That said would live to try one on, some watches swear smaller than the you think, I doubt this will.

Got to be the ugliest Rolex watch I've ever seen ... did they poach the design team from Invicta ?
I think it’s quite practical. I could always strap it to my leg! When swimming in the pool.

In all seriousness. Is it actually that much of an achievement? They put a normal size movement and dial inside an absolutely enormous metal puck and behind something like 2cm of sapphire glass. Maybe there’s something to be said for the gaskets made of Rolber (TM)
If this was a normal sized watch, I’d be really impressed but effectively they’ve made a really impractical box which isn’t really a wearable watch but can be strapped to the outside of a deep sea exploration submarine.
Weird really.
I’m convinced that the depth rating will certainly be good enough to get to the bottom of the washing up bowl, but have Rolex put enough thought into what happens if you bang it on the taps. Titanium is known to scratch and dink if given a good bash, so I think I’ll wait for for some real life reviews to emerge before pulling the trigger and giving that enormous bad boy a go.
As others have said, nice to see the chamfers back. The Deepsea - I’ve owned two, original version and the refreshed one - just remained on the ‘interesting’ side of ugly but I loved the engineering. This not so much. At that money, I wonder if this will be the sports model that manages to avoid the need for waiting lists…
Probably not.

My mistake, will remove it.
Pretty amazing
As a watch designed to go to the depths
Definitely fit for purpose

What's the thought process behind people wanting and buying this watch? It looks worse than the regular Deepsea, it'll wear worse than any other Rolex diver to date, and it serves no practical purpose over any other Oyster cased watch, so is it merely a pissing contest?
Absolute nonsense.
As is the Omega Ultra Deep PO.
For anyone who wants a real, deep diving, form over function watch I suggest a Seiko Tuna. Unlike a Rolex, it won't impress anyone at a business meeting though.
If I'll manage to buy one at the list price I will be more than happy
Cause I love Rolex but all their models looks ridiculous on my wrist.
Way to small for my gorilla wrists
That is the watchmaking equivalent of a mid-life crisis.
Absolutely shocking.

Strongly considering asking for one of these.
There's obviously the collector temptation of completing the set, Submariner, Sea Dweller, Deep Sea and now this but as a bit of a fanboy I like the idea of buying something so close to a prototype from Rolex.
Would it really get worn often? Probably not but the days with fitness tracking neither do most of my mechanical watches.
I do like the idea of owning one however, as something to keep.I suspect they might be quite rare.
Rolex’s most effective bellend detector ever. Quite the achievement.
edit: obvs interested.
Although, no advanced scuba diver will ever use a watch anymore ( I am Trimix adv. certified and I never take any watch diving), it is an achievement to produce a mechanical watch that is waterresistant to ANY depth (...and that is what I would have advertised!). It is a big slap in the face of Omega. Wearing a JC, I was considering switching to the Omega UD just to have the top of the spear in terms of depth rating (Yes I know it is stupid, but that's me...). Happy I did not do it! On the other hand 50mm is tough to wear on a daily basis. I will have to see it in person. Let's see when it hits the shelves (if ever) at Bucherer here in Zürich or in Geneva....
