Quick pic of my carbotech 2231 on a new (to me) military green rubber strap.
Still on the hunt for an orange strap to jaz it up a bit.

Thanks. Kostas made the strap in advance of the g2g last weekend. He new what it was going on so I just left him to it. No obligation to buy but I’m sure he was thinking that once I saw it I’d have to have it.
Between Kostas and Cordes I won’t use anyone else anymore. Both great guys to have a beer with as well.

Thought I'd post the resolution to this in case anyone is interested... I was recommended a watch repairer / servicer who was actually about 15 mins away from me so drove over there and he took the watch to have a closer look at. Turns out the pusher mechanism for the strap change button is just press-fitted into the hole and when I dropped the watch it ovalised it. No way of repair unfortunately. Alex eventually managed to get the squashed button out and has replaced the Panerai bar with a spring bar. Probably not quite as secure but it feels fine and now means I can remove the velcro strap that's been on it for years and replace with something else. Serviced and polished the case and the whole lot was less than £300.
He's now got my IWC which is in desperate need of a service.
I can really recommend Alex's work - http://www.thewatchprofessional.co.uk
Thanks, am after the orange but not keen on paying £160 for one. Does anyone have any experience of the generic non branded ones on eBay? Strap and buckle for about £28.

You have Copes Jewellers just up from that venue you are in - who seem to have lost their Breitling AD status, but have started doing a lot more pre owned stuff, and have a couple of Panerai in there presently
(I was browsing on Saturday!).
I have never tried one, not wanted to… but suddenly seen 2 that I quite like in the last week!

Having had my Gruppo Gamma on my wrist all day, I totally get the "Panerai thing" now. It's the clarity and instant readability, and the absence of clutter that does it for me. A true clock for the wrist.
932 added to the collection.

Its a 190 :)
1940’s Rad do wear differently to the 1930’s wire lug case. In my experience 1940’s wear smaller due to a flat case back on the references I’ve had. I don’t believe the case back is the same on all of them though.
I’m aware of two for sale at the moment. WF have one, as does Blowers. Both high sales price, especially WF. Will Wiseman sold one recently for just under 6k.

Again, not a new watch but a new strap from Toshi. PAM00321 on denim blue leather.
My dilemma, which sub for today....

Went to Harrods yesterday and stopped in the Panerai boutique. Was just browsing but wanted to try a 45mm Radiomir. The salesman brought out a 1940 style one with the thick lugs, but I said I wanted to try a wire lug one. He then proceeded to tell me they don't make those any more... then another, more senior member of staff joined, and they spent 10 minutes explaining how Panerai haven't made wire lugs in a while, how they've discontinued many models, etc. I was really confused as I knew what they were saying wasn't true. I thanked them and got up to leave, only to see a case full of wire lug Radiomirs on the wall behind me... Very strange.

AFAIK, they have discontinued the entire 1940s Radiomir line, along with quite a few long established classics, 233, 372 etc.

I noticed this on their website just today. The one he brought out for me is discontinued, but the ones I was asking about are current models. I did feel like a was in a bit of a twilight zone. He was super keen after he saw I was wearing my 1321, but he kept bringing out all the wrong stuff and explaining things I knew weren't correct. He really wanted to "make me a deal", so maybe that 1940 Radiomir was one they were really trying to get rid of.
That sounds most likely
