I seem to remember that it has received mixed reviews here, but I watched and enjoyed Bullet Train tonight. Maybe a little longer than it needed to be, but Brad Pitt was in his element, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson was particularly good, imo.

Saw Air yesterday, the story of how running-oriented Nike broke through in 1984 to make the biggest shoe deal in history when it signed Michael Jordan and created the Air Jordan brand. EXCELLENT!
Watched it on Netflix tonight. Not bad... a bit of a slow burner.
The sound seems oddly mixed - with dialogue quiet, but ambient & background really loud at times.

Triangle of Sadness
It’s an interesting one, starting with a young couple who are models & influencers that the term ‘shallow & vacuous’ could have been coined for, who as influencers join a luxury cruise for the 1% but there’s a storm on the horizon. I found it quite difficult to warm to any of the characters but that I think is part of the point.
Sadly one of the leads Charlbi Dean died before the film was released.
Just finished The Guard. Seen a few people give it the thumbs up in the past, and it just showed up on Netflix.
Excellent movie, great, if not a little surprising cast, but everyone worked well together.
Excellent funny film.
Certainly not time wasted watching it

Nobody on Netflix was great fun, i can see it becoming a john wick type series.

I was waiting patiently for this to turn up on one of my streaming platforms. Very underwhelmed to be honest. Problem is I was expecting it to be a gritty film noir art house type film similar to Lynne Ramsay's output but in reality it was more like a Marvel movie and about as silly. So much cgi fake blood too.
Cocaine Bear
Does what it says on the tin!
One of Ray Liotta's last performances, this movie filmed in 2021 summer.

Watched the Banshees of Inisherin on the plane. Cracking little film.
I’m looking forward to Mike Leigh’s remake.
(Thanks to Jim https://jimll.co.uk/)
Hostiles - Christian Bale western.
It was decent.
Realistic enough (they were all terrible shots, for example) and a bit gritty

Finally finished watching: Everything Everywhere All at Once
(Can't remember the last time I was able to find the time to watch a film from start to finish without interruptions!)
Anyway...
...I felt like I was tripping by the end.
I found the bombardment of snapshots from other versions of the main characters a little unsettling.
But loved the rocks =)
Overall I enjoyed the film and was left with the message:
"Love and kindness can conquer darkness and despair".
And I like that message =)
The Guilty (the Danish 2018 version) has just popped up on Film 4 again - an unusual, tense drama about a policeman under investigation and currently on emergency call handling duty, who takes a call from a woman in distress. The story unfolds entirely in the call centre. Well worth a watch.
Just watched Nobody on Netflix.
Really enjoyed it.
Mrs f's review is
"Short, sweet and to the point and with ending like Home Alone with guns"
Everyone should watch The Beast with Idris Elba .
Ten minutes in and I was hoping and praying that the lion would eat him and his family .
Went to see Top Gun:Maverick last night at an IMAX (yesterday was IMAX day and £3 a ticket) - really enjoyed it, much than I thought I would too. Slight nostalgia too as I was still a teenager when the original came out.
Yeah. Vice the other night with Christian Bale in the lead role.
Quite enjoyed it.
I had read the Halliburton Agenda a few years back...
Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre
Guy Ritchie directs, Jason Statham stars, Hugh Grant reprises his The Gentlemen character. Features the wonderful Eddie Marsan and crazy/hot Aubrey Plaza, and a sadly old looking Cary Elwes . I probably don't need to say any more, but if you pressed me, I'd describe it as Mission Impossible: But Fun. I picked up two 'Easter eggs' so there are probably loads more.
If you haven’t watched it I can highly recommend “The Swimmers” on Netflix, it’s an utterly engrossing watch.
Watched Air at the weekend. Film about Michael Jordan signing with Nike. Thoroughly enjoyed it as did the Mrs.
Was the clause Jordan’s mother wanted in the contract the best business decision ever?
If you enjoyed The Gentlemen keep an eye out as there's going to be a Netflix TV series (instead of a Second film)
Not sure when it will be released as they are still filming it and not due to finish until next month
Guy Ritchie directed the first 2 episodes before moving on to another project. I think it will be a good watch (I'm a little biased as I worked on some of the filming)
'Swiss Army Man' on Prime. A strange film with excellent performances from Paul Dano & Daniel Radcliffe:
Sisu… very entertaining, but quite ridiculous, Finnish action movie. Ex-military badass finds gold, it’s stolen by Nazi’s and he wants it back!
Watching ‘Do the Right Thing’ now. I forgot what a great movie it is; great cast and story telling. Takes me right back to being seventeen.
Stone cold classic. Went to see this at the Cornerhouse in Manchester, was a proper event movie and a cracker for a new director.
Public Enemy making of too is worth looking into.
New movie out about Nike Air.
Seems like it might be a good watch. I’ll check it out this weekend.

Fast X
The latest "fast and furious" caper.
(had free ticket or would not have not gone to see it.)
It's fun and spectacular, but really more of a big budget hollywood action movie, like the 'Mission impossible' franchise, but with a few interesting yanks and JDM cars, and the odd chase / race.
It had all the usual cast, with Vin in the leading roll, and Jason Momoa played the villian quite well, but I feel some of his clothes choices and painted fingernails were not in keeping with a mass murdering villain. (just my opinion)
it's watcheable but i wouldn't pay to go and see it, and even some of the 'youf' walked out halfway through.
Never seen a film bounce around so many countries! I really enjoyed it, a further step away from the street racing genre, but at least no outer space stuff, but a similar regards to physics as the other films!
There will be an 11, and rumoured to be a 12 before they finish the Fast franchise and maybe move back to street racing again via Tokyo Drift 2 which will be an epic continuation of the money maker.
We watched Old on Netflix last night, it was a little odd but quite gripping.
Watching The Platform right now, now that is odd!
Watched Sisu, cracking film
Watched last night, enjoyed it although slightly unbelievable in places
