Well I won't say RIP.
I remember a small art gallery opposite one of my regular hostelries had one of his paintings in the window for sale for lots of money and it sold literally weeks before his downfall. Bad bad timing for that buyer.
Rolf Harris, the children’s entertainer and convicted paedophile, has died at the age of 93.
No doubt many on here will be on an age where we innocently chuckled at his Antipodean antics and "wobbleboard"

He was a vile **** and deserved all of the opprobrium he received in the last decade of his life. Good riddance.

Itvx have been heavily pushing a documentary talking to his victims over the last few days, I wonder what they will continue to.
Starting this thread to begin with, and in G&D of all sections, is a clear troll.
I still remember watching him on his Art and cartoon show growing up, as well as Saville on Jim'll Fix It etc. They were part of many peoples childhood. Once what they did came to light, part of our childhoods went. It's really horrid how they weren't caught back then.
Rather like the Stylophone he promoted, best forgotten.

I once spent half an hour in an otherwise deserted laundrette with Rolf Harris, in the early 80s. I didn't speak to or acknowledge him, its not the sort of thing you do when you are 18.
Now I come to think about it, it was an on site at Sheffield Poly just after a "Rolf on Saturday" art show for kids he'd been doing there. This thread reminded me of it and my surprise that a rich man would be doing his own washing.
Like many here, I suspect (although it may not be fashionable to say so), I used to enjoy his TV programmes and was always somewhat in awe of his painting, making a few splashes turn into something recognisable.
We even almost bought a Rolf Harris painting once - I can't imagine that would have proved a successful investment.
Sadly, his private life was a horror show and he deserved all the punishment and vilification he received.
I suspect, though, that he's one of the few who did get their just desserts - We still get to listen to Michael Jackson's 'genius' on the radio day in, day out, for example.

Breitling Cosmonaute 809 - What's not to like?
a colleague of mine has an original 'Rolf' - bought as an investment.
When he was convicted - he moved it to the loft.
I've asked him if he is now binning it , or leaving it for the next owner to find.............................
Today, another colleague revealed that he had (age 5) written to Jim'll fix it - asking to meet Michael Jackson !! Puts 'running across the road into a new perspective!"
Let's hope the nonce rots in hell.
My hiacinth bucket sister in law had 2 Rolf originals that she used to show anyone who went round, funny she never mentions them now used to say they were the best investment they made
Always surprises me how many people say they saw him do something, or they suspected him. Same with Jimmy.
Started out with nothing. Still have most of it left.
An even more pointless RIP thread than usual.
