Hadn't realised that it would reset to 2 minutes every time there was a bid. Very sensible.

    Could go on all night

Interesting that the timer resets to 2 mins every time there's a new bid, could go on a while. Crazy money, it's what my house is worth. How many multi millionaires have the initials SJ? Congrats to OP and whoever the beneficiaries are

One of them needs to put a massive bid to finish the rest off.

  18. #68
At least 2 of the last 3 big bidders are dealers

Yeah, bit of a contrast to the Unclealec 99p eBay listings.

Got the impression he's not a beneficiary, so hopefully he's on commission

Even so, it has to be bloody exciting for him.

Thanks all for good wishes and to TZ members who put me on to Collectingcars.Com. Can’t believe how many of you were watching it. The 2 minute reset is genius.

One of the beneficiaries called me already so they are happy.

Need to speak to them about a fee for this as it’s actually taken a load of my time over and above what I thought.

Just went on the site to see because I couldn’t quite believe it.

Well done and what a result. I’d say a fee is forthcoming.

Wonder if the buyer can pay by credit card and get 300k air miles.

If I'm not mistaken and might different than Canada. Executor fees are based off a % of the estate, but i'm guessing a professional executor.

In Canada. Could be 3 - 5% which is still fair based on what the plate sold for

    Are you a lawyer?

Executors, whether professional or non-professional, are entitled to be reimbursed by the estate for their reasonable out-of-pocket expenses, for example, if they have paid for the grant of probate out of their own pocket or paid for a valuation on a property. However, there are limits to executors charging further fees for their services in carrying out the estate administration work.

Why would anyone bother just to be reimbursed for their expenses. A years work? Here's 5 bob. Piss off

Hope you get a reasonable fee for the work your doing

Executors are usually family members and,as far as I’m aware, rarely reimbursed for anything other than out of pocket expenses.

One of the late bidders was REGPLATES. On a website called regplates.com, they were listing 1 SJ, with Purchase Price: POA

    Ad is still up

This is the case. You can charge for your time.

It’s a thankless task. I’m in the middle of doing my aunts estate. It’s costing me as I’m self employed and times money.

The OP has stated that he is acting in his professional capacity and is not related to the estate.

I trust he will have a fee schedule to make sure he is paid for the service that he provides.

    Correct

Albeit assets such as properties are charged at a particular rate over and above the probate fees. But never had a numberplate to sell and suspect all thought it was just a bit of admin work like closing a bank account and collecting the funds in

Turned out more work and will be a discussion with the clients as to a suitable charge.

That dealer was in touch with me and I could see he had the plate advertised. Hence why CC include the warning that if you see a plate advertised elsewhere to be cautious. I believe it is widespread within the industry. Find a buyer and hustle a deal with the owner.

It is also probably a way they can judge market value before working out what to bid on CC.
